Having started the work of clearing the thickets, saplings and brambles in 2009, the Friends of St Sepulchre's group closed down in January 2025 and stopped the gardening sessions, as there were no younger people to lead the team. The objectives set by the police and Diocese had been achieved with sightlines clear to the boundaries and every grave accessible, and the space was open and welcoming with regular users walking round the perimeter or resting at the central beds. The city council is responsible for general maintenance, like mowing, strimming and monitoring the trees, so the cemetery should remain in good heart.
